We are blessed with having some beautiful public gardens around Tunbridge Wells and here are a few of our favourites which we feel you may enjoy visiting.

1. Groombridge Place Gardens

With both stunning floral displays for adults to enjoy as well as child-friendly features, such as a giant chessboard, Groombridge Place Gardens has something for everyone to enjoy. The white rose garden is beautifully simple, exhibiting a spectacular study in shades of white with more than 20 types of white rose, among other natural beauties such as foxtail lilies and tulips.

2. Scotney Castle

This beautiful 14th Century moated castle is a perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. This fairytale castle provides a stunning backdrop to a tranquil stroll around the flowering gardens, which offer a different sensory experience depending on the time of year you visit. Open all year round, the gardens have displays of rhododendrons and hydrangeas in May and June, wisteria and roses all through summer, and rich trees and ferns throughout autumn.

3. Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest

Bedgebury is a fantastic place to explore, especially if you need to keep the kids entertained for that little bit longer! Pack a picnic and hide yourselves among the trees for a peaceful afternoon surrounded by nature, or hire bikes and explore the 2000 acre forest as a family. Reconnect with the world and one another in this vast and natural environment. There’s also a Go Ape adventure playground in the vicinity for the thrill-seeking risk takers!

4. Pashley Manor Gardens

Situated on the border of Kent and Sussex, Pashley Manor Gardens features a beautiful rose walk and gardens as well as a bluebell walk through the woodland. Though it may be the wrong time of year to see the bluebells in all their glory, this 11 acre grounds is peppered with sculptures for visitors to discover and over 25,000 tulips!

5. Wakehurst Place

Situated in the beautiful High Weald of Sussex, this spectacular botanic garden and conservation area is maintained by the Royal Botanic Gardens. The special environments created here allow many rare and beautiful species to flourish so that they can be enjoyed by generations to come. Take a stroll through the flowering gardens, or discover the enormous forest made up of trees from all over the world. Spanning from specimen beds to waterside and bog gardens, this impressive site will be enjoyed by the whole family.
